John Gellatly

Managing Director and portfolio manager on the Real Estate Fund of Funds team

John Gellatly is responsible for the Global Real Estate Fund of Funds product range and is the Fund Manager for BlackRock UK Property Fund of Funds.

John’s service with the firm dates back to 2005, including his years with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM), which merged with BlackRock in 2006. At MLIM, he was responsible for developing the Fund of Funds product range, managing the Merrill Lynch UK Property Fund of Funds product (now rebranded BlackRock UK Property Fund of Funds) and had overall responsibility for strategic research across the real estate sector. Prior to joining MLIM, he was a Director of Real Estate Investment Banking at Credit Suisse First Boston following several years experience as a real estate equities analyst, strategist and researcher. He holds a number of external positions, including being a member of the Management Board of the Investment Property Forum and the IPF Research Steering Group while he also sits on the Investor Forum for AREF. He was heavily involved with introducing Real Estate Investment Trusts to the UK and sits on the HM Treasury Technical Committee.

John earned a BA Joint Honours degree in Economics and Geography from Lancaster University in 1981. He subsequently qualified as holder of the IIMR and an Associate of the UK Society of Investment Professionals from the City University Business School in 1986.
