Ian Coull
Chief Executive, Slough Estates
Ian Coull was appointed Chief Executive of Slough Estates plc on 1 January 2003. He was a director from 1988 to 2002 of J Sainsbury plc which is the holding company of the Sainsbury Group and he had responsibility for all real estate, construction and related activities within the Group. He was also responsible for environmental affairs.He joined Sainsbury’s in 1988 having previously held board and senior management positions at Ladbrokes, Texas Homecare and Cavenham Foods.
He was appointed a member of the Government’s Advisory Committee on Business and the Environment for a two-year period (1991–1993).
He was a member of the Government’s Property Industry Forum. (1997-2002)
He was appointed a member of the Scottish Valuation and Rating Council (1998–2001).
He was appointed Chairman of the South Bank Employers’ Group, and the Waterloo Partnership Board, both private sector led partnerships (1994-2003).
He is on the London Regional Board of the Royal and Sun Alliance.
He was Chairman of the London Sustainable Development Commission (2002-2005).
He was a Non Executive Director of The House of Fraser in 2003-2006.
He was appointed a member of the Government’s Sustainable Construction Task Group in 2003.
He was President of the British Property Federation from June 2005 to July 2006.
He is keenly interested in all sports.
